Summary

Create a gesture to represent yourself.  Go around the room and repeat your gesture and then someone else’s.  Mess up and you drink.

Round table preferably

Game Play

Begin by determining a gesture to represent yourself.  For instance, Bob is a “middle finger”, Sally is an “L on the forehead”, Steve makes a face like a monkey, etc.  After everyone has decided on a gesture, sit around a table and begin drumming on the table.  A group leader asks, “what is the name of the game?” everyone replies “Thumper.”  The group leader asks “why do we play it?” and everyone responds “to get fucked up.”  The group leader motions his gesture first and then proceeds with someone else’s.  The gesture who the group leader mimics after his own gesture must then take the lead.  She then does her own gesture first as an acknowledgement and then follows with someone else’s gesture.  It continues until someone screws up the pattern.  The person who screws up the pattern must drink.  The pattern is screwed up when:

• The person does not do his gesture first
• The person does not proceed his gesture with someone else’s
• The person does not do his gesture or someone else’s correctly
• The person stalls or is not paying attention

The key is to focus on someone who isnt paying attention because they make for an easy mark.  While it may not seem very difficult to pay attention in a game that’s entire premise is based on paying attention, once you add alcohol, the minds tend to wander.
